So we were opening our Christmas gifts this morning as we do every Christmas. I pull the gifts out from under the tree and pass them out one by one with mine going last. I was opening a gift from my oldest son thinking it was somekind of gift card or something. I open the card after removing it from the envelope. Inside the card is a sheet of paper it saying "open me". I did so and it was a flyer from the fun show in Orlando with a monetary allowance for a coin of my choice. My son and I haven't been to this show for about 10 years. He stated he wanted to go with me on either Saturday or Sunday. So we will head-out together on Saturday morning the 7th. What a nice and thoughtful gift, and have a nice day with my son. Tomorrow I will be asking my other son if he would like to go and he has never been to a coin show. I am so impressed with the thought that went into this.
Great Christmas story. You have a most thoughtful son. And you in turn are thoughtful to share the event with your other son.
I intend to be there. Look for this hat on the bourse floor. (It no longer is covered in gold coins, but it will have plenty of coins on it nonetheless.)
I'll watch for you. That hat is famous. A black hat like that is how I found and meet Doug for the first time. That was at FUN, years ago. I think he was still under 100 years old.
Some years back we did all our present opening and then we called my mother as we always do and had a wonderful Christmas morning chat. Thanked her for all the goodies she sent and then there was an uncomfortable silence….. I asked, “mom, you there?”…. And she asks me if I didn’t like the coin she sent… Coin?? What? Thoughts of ripping paper out of trash bags and boxes crossed my brain and she says, you didn’t open the tin box?”…. I did and saw candy previously. Closed it up and set it aside for the kids… When she said that I looked closer and there was a five dollar gold Indian mixed in with all that candy!!!! Wow! Big thanks mom!!
I think that hat will be easy to find, I will certainly be on the look-out for it. I plan on leaving the house to get us there around 1030.
