    LordM Giveaway #70 (Happy Ayyám-i-Há!)

This contest is now CLOSED. Winner announced in Post #59.

This is a special "just because I felt like it" giveaway.

It is in honor of my mother, who left us two days before Christmas. :(

I was just thinking about her, is all.

Mom always did so much for me and so... well... here's another giveaway. Why not? :p

I wanted to do something related to her birthyear, but as it happened, the stuff I had on hand didn't include any nice 1944 coins.

So instead, here's something from my birthyear. The first time she gave me something... life! :)

What I have for you here is a really lovely 1965 Canadian mint set in the original Royal Canadian Mint packaging. Or maybe it's an actual proof set. An old pencil note on the original envelope says "proof". But the RCM card says "Uncirculated". The technicalities of proof versus prooflike with Canadian coins confuses me sometimes. (I'm not Canadian.)

Anyway, you've got six coins here- cent through dollar- with four of the six being silver. Never mind my dull, washed out photos below. These are brilliant, flashy coins with nice mirrored surfaces, whether they're proof or just prooflike. The original envelope and insert are included, though those show signs of wear from their 57 years. The coins themselves appear pristine.

    So... want 'em?

Just type "entry post" at the top of your entry (only one entry post per member, please). Then post something else coin related. Anything you like, especially if it has some mother-child theme to it. Or springtime. Or flowers. But you don't need to post condolences about my Mom. Thanks- I get it. This is just to celebrate her rather than mourn her, OK?

If I can, I will draw a winner sometime during the festival of Ayyám-i-Há *, which probably means nothing to most of you. (Ayyami-whaaah?!?) ;). But it is a season of gift-giving, and Mom always used to send us big packages of goodies during Ayyám-i-Há. Without having that this year, somebody needs to get a gift package, so it might as well be one of you... from me! :)

(*In other words, sometime between February 25th and March 1st is when we'll do the drawing. Sorry. I know I tend to ramble.)

    I will ship worldwide.

    Nice prize for someone, M'Lord
My Parents emigrated to Canada in 1980 so I have a fondness for Canadian coinage. Here is a Canadian cent in honor of both your Birthyear and my Parents home

Man, those pictures up there suck.

Here, let’s take these puppies out into the sunlight and wiggle ‘em around a bit.

(The animated GIF still won’t do ‘em justice, but at least gives a little better idea of the flashy factor.)

I completed Indian Heads (and Flying Eagles). No ‘56 Flyer, but that’s a pattern coin anyway, so it doesn’t have to count.)

I didn't know your mother, obviously, but I can tell what a great lady she was based on how awesome you are. She did well and you are a testament to her goodness :)

A lovely and heart-felt post honoring your mother @lordmarcovan, so beautiful.

Don't have any coins from 1944.

In honor of your mother I have one like this 1 Schilling coin from Austria with Edelweiss flowers symbolizing purity and innocence.

Should I win, please award the prize to a YN at CT:

I don't have anything from 1944 or even 1844 photographed, but perhaps a lovely English Rose in conjunction with a Scottish Thistle will suffice for the time being.
