I see a couple that I recognize. Glad to see you still have the Cuban Cow. I still think she is quite an attractive lady.

Are all of your coins graded and slabbed? Nice.

All the ones seen here are. Not seen are perhaps eight or ten more in the pipeline which have either not yet been sent off for certification, or haven’t landed in my mailbox yet. Before December I expect to send off the former and see the latter arrive.

I like all of them but the Hadrian sestertius is off the charts! It stands out to me because I know how difficult it is to find sestertii without major surface issues.

Thank you. It makes me happy to hear you say that. You see, I had a very nice Hadrian sestertius before, which I sold to a good friend when times were lean. I’ve always missed it since, and he’s not turning loose of it! LOL.

So when my circumstances improved, I bought that other one this year.

The old (ex-Boston Museum of Fine Arts, ex-Colosseo Collection, sadly ex-Lord Marcovan).

The new, which you commented on above. My “consolation coin”.
    upload_2022-11-25_23-38-58.png

I’m still a bit partial to the old one, but happy with the new one (and thanks for reinforcing that view).

I'm not a collector of ancients or world coins, but you make a silent case for that direction of my collecting to change. Absolutely beautiful assortment of both categories.

    Thanks for posting, Rob.

I like the slightly smoother surfaces of the new one and would consider it far above a “consolation piece” if it were in my collection. The old one has some serious character though. Sestertii are just plain cool.

I agree! And so do most collectors of ancients, which is no doubt why they can be so darned pricey!
