    .....a Bison Error Coin with a strike thru STRING, I'm fairly sure anyway.

    Sorry for the poor photo. You can see the strands of the string, spread out flat at one end and twisted or wrapped strands in the middle.

    Very cool Error!!!!!!!!

    Yes it came out of a roll from the P & D mint set of rolls. It be from Denver and is a one-of -a-kind.

    This baby stays in my private collection and won't be going on ebay.

    That looks interesting -- how does that type of error come about? Is it an impression of a wire left on the coin from the strike?

    For this type of strike thru, a small piece of wire fell between the planchet and the dies, so when struck the wire pattern is pressed into the coin and then falls ways.

    There are also strike thru cloth, wood, scrap, and whatever else gets in the way.
