Laugh all you want about trash can mining. I found an 1892 Barber dime in the trash last year and that wasn't even my best or oldest find last year, that older one was about 2000 years older.

Some youngsters (millennial) might throw coins away as they don't recognize them as "real" because they've never seen on before.
Congrats on the find. I bought a Mark Twain silver dollar a while back. I was looking at it in my office and later on, I found I couldn't find it. Stupid me, I had evidently thrown it into the trash and the trash was picked up that day. Maybe someone will be lucky enough to find it, but they will have to go through thousands of tons of garbage at the landfill.
