I agree it is not anything. If it was the size of the "L" in liberty, we could discuss whether it is a dropped letter, but being so small it is not. Like seeing people or objects in food pieces, odd coincidental shapes appear on coins, and we look at them so closely, it appears to be more than it really is. Welcome to the Forum if I haven't met you here before! Jim
Now that i realized were you were pointing out I think it's just a die gouge or a small die chip. Frankie boy
Thanks for the help I am pretty much a newbee into error coins so I'm sure that every anomily must surely be something that I can retire on.....hmmmm.....forgot, I am already retired. Anyway thanks again for the insight. Hopefully I won't be a pain in the rear while learning this facinating hobby. John
Ask anything anytime and it's not at all uncommon to find things you may think are Ask anything anytime and it's not at all uncommon to find things you may think are an error or variety only later to find that it's not. That's how we learn - that's the only way we learn. The only "pain in the rear's" around here are the ones that find stuff, then ask about it, and then aruge with us after countless explanations offered by persons here that really do know what they are talking about. They seem to think that we are somehow "aganst them" by telling them the truth. Remember just because you find it does not make it valuble or rare. Just because it seems to be something does not make it rare. If it just sort of looks like a known variety or error does not make it rare. What makes it rare or valuble is being authentic, supply and demand and traced to a certain minting process/error or minting variety most likely already known to some or many CoinTalk members.
And welcome Tuffjump to the forum. Also just because what you find and think is different isn't listed, doesn't mean it's not rare. We had a member find a 1982 Doubled Die Reverse cent a few months ago that wasn't listed until then.
Thanks Rockdude I appreciate your reply it's encourging to me. I'm taking pics of a dime I can't wait to get comments. As soon as I get a clear pic I will post.
Hey rockdude, I think that 1982 DDR was about 2 years ago Don't feel weird, I can't understand how time seems to be going by more quickly either. WELCOME Tuffjump! Have Fun, Bill
I think you are right, thanks. And ziggy9 found it. So lets see 1982 till two years ago = how many years did it lay dormant? That was my point.
I'm sorry, but do you have to bring up your personal beefs with everyone who posts here? Could you please just STFU?
