Ok I've been digging through my collection for things to liquidate. Now I ran into these 2 coins which I purchased about 5 years ago and forgot about.... BUT I CANNOT FIND MY KRAUSE CATALOG !!! UGH The first coin is an 8 Reales I bought from Spain.. I think Madrid???... but I can't remember if it's rare or not... the assayer I mean. The 2nd coin is Japanese Yen... Year 16?? I think.. which translates to 1883... is this rare year? Any help is much appreciated. Thank You
The yen had an average mintage and isn't particularly rare. The multiple chop marks bring its value down for most collectors. You are correct about the date.
I think i like the pillar variety better myself. I always loved the El Cazador coins since I first laid eyes on them. I think they are a sub-variety that i will eventually pick up and collect one day, still waiting to find a decent shipwrecked one as my first in an NGC holder without too much corrosion, then off for other examples. I would love to own this toned 8R though
