I have a neat looking AMERO ptrototype which I cannot identify or authenticate. Lookng for information on artist, engraver, etc. Words on reverse: PORTUGAL ANNUIT COEPTIS NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM 2.08 JOGOS DA LUSOFONIA LISBOA Can anybody help? The coin will be put up for sale after I obtain information. THANKS!
Not a coin, not a "prototype", but a medal. A somewhat strange combination ... The Latin mottos are apparently used in the US, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novus_ordo_seclorum. The design of the "map side" is basically a slightly modified copy of a €2 coin. And the Lusophony Games were indeed in Lisbon; this is the obverse of the €2 piece that Portugal issued on that occasion: http://ec.europa.eu/economy_finance/images/image15188.jpg By the way, it's not "2.08" but "2.os", short for "second" (lusophony games). Christian
Thanks Christian, I am looking to sell it - do you know its possible value by any chance? Where would I market such a [coin] medal? I am also curious who might have made it. -Brooks
