Lofty goal since the are out of print, unless someone wants to place a large order and they will fire up the presses(5000 copies I believe). I have a friend that enjoys Canadian coins and the only Dansco he's missing is the Canadian Type Set. Please let me know if you happen to see one just lying around.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/DANSCO-7215-COIN-ALBUM-CANADA-SILVER-MAPLE-LEAF-/351424063221 SIDENOTE => I have zero-idea what you dudes think are Dansco albums? (so please try not to come back at me with negative ummphhh, okay dawgs?)
If you'd like to make your own Canadian Type Set with Airtites, there are a few options in which you can make your own: The hard way (with "blank" Dansco products you label/assemble yourself): OR The easy way (with a Custom order to make a Canadian Type Set from this company): http://www.valleycoin.com/index.php?cPath=409_1482_449&sort=1a&page=1
Is it weird that I like the hard way? Thanks for the great idea. Still hoping an abandoned Dansco shows up, but in the mean time I think this will work out great.
You can buy blank Dansco products from valley coin.com, too. I bought all those blank binders and pages from there. The pages need to be 31mm-size holes for A-size airtites, 37mm-size holes for T-size airtites, and 44mm-size holes for H-size airtites. I double-sided taped two pages of the same size together to accommodate the airtites. I used their 1&1/4 inch binder for my S. Korean Type album. I think they make a larger size, not sure.
I was wondering how the airtites fit in the pages, didn't think they'd fit in one page. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I would call these guys. They don't necessarily put everything on the website that they have on hand at the store and Brooklyn Gallery has had foreign albums that I could fing nowhere else .. actually their whole inventory or supplies and books is not easily matched: http://www.brooklyngallery.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe?search=action&category=0105
I know what you are looking for. It's an example as shown here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canadian-Type-Set-Coin-Album-Dansco-Canada-1858-1973-82-Coins-/272078205906 Tbh - if your friend has managed to collect all other Dansco album - it's an absurdly difficult challenge. Some of the albums alone go for more than 100 dollars (!!!) Of course, a lot of manufacturers would dream to sell albums at that price but when you have very limited number of people that are willing to pay that much... it's a marketing nightmare.
First, take the diameter of the largest coin you will put in that page of your album, Then, find the smallest Airtite that that coin will fit into (Valley Coin sells the black or white ring-type airtites that come in very thin or very thick, non-standard sizes), and that is hole size for that page (if the smallest airtite the largest coin fits is a T-size, then your page will be a 37mm page). Buy two of those blank 37mm pages, and take out all of the clear plastic slides. Take Scotch permanent double-sided tape and adhere the two pages together, lining up the holes perfectly. Place your T-size airtites in the 37mm holes and replace the plastic slides on both sides of your new "double-thick" page. And Bob's your uncle...
Exactly...minus the coins. Although some of the prices I've seen with full books might be the cheapest way to go sometimes.
I remember reading that a member contacted Dansco and were told that they could produce a one time batch, if someone placed an order for 5000...or $5000 worth, can't remember. I can't blame Dansco, they were discontinued for a reason. So let's petition the Canadian Prime Minister and tell him to pay for the request, so we can all enjoy Canada a little more.
