I recently acquired such a coin from Sidon during the reign of Octavian Augustus: RPC I, 4577. Some rare coin. There are 10 specimens on the rpc online but all from catalogue or museum, unfortunately I can't find any auction listings, there are no listings on acsearch beside mine, nor specimen is there on wildwinds. I am looking for the tween coin. Enybody have some? Or even maybe you know the other auction with this coin. Please share your specimens if you have! Greetings, Robert
There's one in this listing (one of the two coins): https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=329571 What makes this one an RPC 4577 is the date, D-X on the obverse. There are others with different characters on the obverse for the year, and somewhat different arrangements of the reverse ethnic, and/or with Dionysus facing left instead of right: https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/search/browse?q=sidon+cista
Thank you for finding it! I looked and didn't see. Yes, we still have the RPC 4575 and RPC 4576 varieties, minted during the times of Octavian Augustus. But they are even rarer. Greetings, Robert
