I know 15th and 16th century does not really fit into the ancient forum as well as true medieval coins do but I have a lot of respect for the knowledge here. I have a box of coins from Poland, German States, Austria and others including a few Thales from the late 1500''s early 1600's that I would like to learn more about. I know some of these references can be very expensive but I would be happy with trustworthy online sources. Any thoughts?

Did you try the World Coin Forum? I have more luck there, when talking about that date range.

Not yet. I'm sure they are a great bunch of people too but I have gotten to know the people on the ancients forum and made some good friends. I will start to hang out on World Coins a bit too and get to know them.

You probably know this already, but I've found acsearch to be a decent reference for this kind of thing.

I feel ya. I'm not that quite late into the coins that interest me most, but def a medieval fan and collector first and foremost and wish there was a designated area for this era of coins on the forums here.

Yes, a Medieval / Early Modern to say 1650 forum would be nice.
