In the vein of some other threads, I am sure some of us go to flea markets/swap meets at one time or another. What have you found...fabulous or ridiculous... At a flea market where I bought the fake Libertad I posted in another thread, I also bought a bag of foreign for like $15 which included:
I don't know much about these foreign issued coins but I see a lot of old dates so my inclination is that you did very well. Please tell us more.
The India coin is listed as $20 in F-12 on NGC. (They are a little high, and maybe yours is not F-12) but if you go one by one, it looks like a score.
I really kind of liked the 1797 large cents, and I thought the graffiti/mutilation on the reverse was not really distracting. The Ottoman coin was fun to search out and turned out to be 17% silver (whoopee). The VOC coin is MUCH better than the other one I have. Show me your finds.
Those 1797 LC's are British Penny and Two Pence coins. They weigh a ton, and are classified as weapons of mass destruction in third world countries! I have one of each as well, and think they're awesome. Actually, are they both the same size? After looking again, I think you have 2x One Penny coins. It's all in the size. Great pick ups!
Yeah, both are large PENNIES. At that time George decreed that a penny was an ounce of copper, so the two pence is 62 g of copper (I have one). I also got a half penny to accompany them, but it's an 1806 or something.
