Look at this photo and tell me he doesn't have his fingers on the "biggest" gold coin in the world???

(I cut out part of the photo so if he does have his fingers on it nobody will know who it is :D   )

I "think" this is the largest would gold coin to be minted...it would be just plain bad to have five little prints show up!!!

I think he means it was not struck but cast. I seem to remember that it was struck though - could be wrong.

But no, he does not have his fingers on it. He is holding it with the palms of his hands - his fingers are in front of the coin, not touching the surface.

Does it contain more than 348 ounces of pure gold?

I can't find the info right off about the coins being struck ( they made 15 of them ), but I'm pretty sure it was.

You can read more about it HERE

Well the last time that mohur was up for auction - the high bid was $10 million. The owner rejected the bid as being too low.

The Austrian coins sold for about $500,000 each.

The coin was struck, so to speak, but finished by hand. The edge reeding was also done by hand and the coin now holds the distinction of being the largest gold coin in the history of the world. Yes, all 14 were sold and the 15th remains in Austria as a museum piece.

It really bothered me that I couldn't buy all 15, but the 14 do look nice as flagstones leading up to the front door of the house.

When it first came out there were some pictures of it being made and it was actually engraved by cutting material away from the gold "planchet"

And the Indian piece was bid to 8 million not 10. The 10 million dollar figure was the reserve. So the Indian piece is the most expensive coin in the world.
