Hey guys long time no see lol. I haven't been buying coins and currency as much due to my first hobby (watch collecting). A few weeks ago I received Littleton's Summer catalog well actually two with different covers. Two weeks ago I had asked my grandfather what coins he needed so I filled out the order forum and made sure the total was 100% correct did this at least 5 times because well I get nervous the total won't be correct. So yesterday I received the coins and see my invoice sheet and Littleton says I owe them an extra $6.30? I was upset when I filled out the order forum I checked both 2013 summer catalogs and their website by item number to make sure the prices match? They did. I understand their prices can change without noticed but to me their catalogs are useless. What's the point of sending out catalogs to customers if there's a 99% chance the prices will be wrong? So know I have to call them up Monday and ask if I could use my profit shares to pay the remaining balance if not back the coins go and I'll never do business with them again.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of Littleton. I can almost always find the same coin, in the same condition, for a lower price that what Littleton sells it for. I would just send the order back, if possible, and get a refund!!!
I think that if their current webpage has the wrong prices, they should honor them. If only 1 coin had an increase, I would ask which one and why. Maybe they only had higher grades and changed it without consulting you. I would ask for the ordered price with no increase and if not, and the answer about why. Only then I would make any decision.
I agree 100% the only reason I even buy from Littleton is because I'm afraid of trying other companies. The thing that ****ed me off when I, saw my invoice paper was instead of them (littleton) putting the prices I should of paid for the coins that went up in price they decided to just leave the prices I originally wrote.
Regardless of whether this was Littleton or not, ANY dealer refusing to honor a printed price in a current offering would never again get one cent of my business. Since it IS Littleton, do yourself a favor and send them all back. Take the exact same list to a good dealer or a coin show and fill it for half the price. Littleton kind of did you a favor, seek out cheaper alternatives and have your eyes opened. I will bet you once you find a good dealer or a good coin show you will never be tempted by a LIttleton catalog again. Why would you want to keep the coins if they are treating you like this? Send them back.
Long time no see rant about Littleton coin company That's because Detecto got a job and doesn't have very much time for CT anymore.
This 100% what good are their catalogs when the prices will go up after, someone places an order? I had a conversation with one of the reps I told them my situation, she told me the prices I put down were from the winter catalog? Which is a bunch of BS because I know for a fact the prices in the Winter, Spring and Summer Catalogs were all the same by the time I filled out the order forum. Even if I filled out the order forum lets say in May and was using a catalog from january the prices were still the same, at the time of sending it out. BTW I'm sending them back for a full refund.
Send them back. I am being 100% straight faced serious that you should find a good dealer and ask him to price your list for you. You will see how much cheaper everyone else is. I know some very fine members here who are also dealers if you wish to PM me.
Don't be, or at least don't worry about buying only from "companies". There are plenty of small and honest dealers that would be willing to assist you and happy to get the business.
