Went to a local coin show in Thousand Oaks, CA on Sunday. Even a small coin show is good if you find interesting stuff. I posted this in the Ancient Forum, but I'll repeat here: Ancient Greece 400-350 BC, protomoney 1.47 g 24 mm I'm always a sucker for Columbians if they are either cheap or interesting: The Columbians were $8 and $10 (for the toner) and $4 for the Rupee Finally, a $1 box: The Groschen is Uncirc and I had seen a similar coin at a flea market a few weeks ago and the guy had a $30 price on it...and actually wanted it.
About 0.048 oz silver ...selling around $5-$10 on eBay https://www.ebay.com/sch/U-S-1898-1...lete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
And here is some NGC info (via Krause): https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...os-km-169-1907-1935-cuid-1084663-duid-1519442 You did well for $1!
Nice to see the groschen. When I lived in Austria in the 1970's, I thought "groschen", which was 1/100 of a schilling, was a funny name because it means little big one. Apparently though, "gros" and various linguistic variations have been used as the name of small coins for centuries in different times and places. Cal
