I ran across a post by someone a bit ago who mentioned Littletons and said they weren't too well thought of around here. It seems he had sent in for the same deal I had where you get some ASEs for their price of $8.95 ,with free shipping, and then they sign you up for some kind of dollar club. I guess they pick out some dollars and send you whatever every month and if you like them you send in the money otherwise you send the coins back. They also mentioned that the first coins you receive would be worth around $40.00. I was kind of excited thinking I would get an old Morgan or something but all I got was a couple more ASEs, one of which was a 2001 that I had recently bought from a coin store for around $13.00, they had this particular coin priced at around $21.00 and the other was similarly priced. Needless to say I sent them back but I was wondering if this is what I've got to look forward to with this club. Is this a scam I've gotten myself into or what? Is this why Littletons isn't too well thought of? Should I just write off any hopes of getting some decent deals with this club and cancel it? As you might have guessed I'm new and would appreciate any advice on this from the more experienced people out there. Thanks.
Technically it isn't a scam, because they carefully limit their puffery to something less than outright fraud. Yup.
I made the same mistake with Littltton about a year ago and it took an angry phone call from me to get them to stop sending me overpriced junk.(AND BILLING MY MASTERCARD). Run away
Boot Littleton as quickly as you can. Any coin store will sell the same thing at half the price. Heck there are better online stores at half the price.
I bought some stuff from them a few years back. A once and done deal. They still send me crap in the mail. :headbang:
The 5 ASE's for $8.95ea. shipped are a good deal. It's pretty much universally agreed that the approval coins they send along with them will be overpriced & should be returned. They include a post paid mailer to send back the approval coins. Just drop them in the envelope & mark it cancel & they shouldn't send you any more coins. I'm sure junk mail is another matter, you'll probably get plenty of that. ~Brian
I get a catalouge from L&C coins, they are a bit overpriced but they have good bu rolls at fair prices now and then. Their shipping on rolls is very low.
I see. I kind of thought that was the case but I was hoping otherwise. It sounded like a good idea but the prices for those first couple were unreal. Thanks for the input everyone.
