I just got a 1921 morgan dollar from Littleton on approval. It's grades AU 50. Only prob. They want $55 for it. I say it's worth $30. Are all their approval coins over priced?

Yes in my opinion, a 1921 Morgan dollar in MS-60 the value is $23 to $25.00 it is a very common date that is way to much to pay for this coin.

Even on ebay that coin sells for $9 to $15 plus shipping.

I got in on that screaming deal with the 2006 W eagles, but other than that they are not a legit seller (to me)

Littleton has nice coins but they are selling coins at values that won't be realized in my lifetime. :kewl:

Although I agree that Littleton is (mostly) awful, they do have some stuff going for them. Last year I bought a ton of ASEs for (I don't remember the exact price but it was between $7-$10 each). I also got a 1964-D gold plated Kennedy Half dollar for the price of a stamp (37 cents). Every now and then they have these offers where you get free/almost free stuff for joining a club which you may cancel at any time and be obligated to buy nothing. For example, on the 1964 Kennedy I also had the chance to buy a common dated buffalo nickel for $5, a 2003 ASE for $25, and a common date Mercury dime for $7.50. I passed on all those "great" offers and kept my free coin.

Also, check out reader's digest, etc. as they occasionally advertise stuff like 2006 ASEs graded first strike by NGC for buy none get 2 free plus $10 S&H. Lastly, last year some rifle magazine was selling ASEs (limit 20) for like $7 (or so) and 1/10 oz. AGEs (limit 3) for $61.

In short, these companies are a total rip-off but on occasion they offer phenomenal deals if you look hard enough.

Littleton is a mass market company, I would not buy from them, but I would definately sell to them.
They offer some of the best buying prices in the country.

I got caught by one of their clubs when I was a teenager. The only coin store in town wasn't very good, and I was dedicated. I wanted the best. (I know what you're thinking - "So you went to Littleton?!?!?!?") So I joined one of their "we'll send you junk, and you only pay for what you keep" clubs. I learned quickly. Took forever to get out of the club.

Yeah about 6 years ago I foolishly asked them for a catalog and they sent me one along with some phenominal deals to check out, which included a ms-60 64 kennedy for the low low price of $30. I told them not to ship me anyhting else, period.

Yea, they are WAY overpriced and overgraded. They are a ripoff company that should not be in business as long as they have. They sent me coins on approval years ago and I sent them right back with a very strongly worded letter about how I felt about what they're doing. I'll tell everybody that asks to stay away from these GREEDY people.

I sent all their samples back with a .39 stamp (4-5oz). That took care of that.
