    Could not find a emperors birth for this month but several for march post, here is a little info on the emperors of this month deaths,

    Too bad no emperor was born on this day, 23 February...

    But on 23 February 1945, the Marines raised their flag on the summit of Mount Suribachi, in Japan.

    It's not Antiquity, of course, it's contemporary history, but it was ancient, in a sense.

    The iconic 1945 photograph was a reminiscence of an ancient Roman image of Victory. On the Gemma Augustea, a large cameo carved for the emperor Augustus (now in Vienna), we can see the same scene: Roman soldiers raising a trophy.
