Hey everyone! Somewhere along the way, I acquired these IHC's. Probably form a contest but feel I have no need for them any longer. Are they spendable? Should I release them in the wild? What to do with....? Any ideas?
They're mostly FR01(Fried roaches, LOL) (Holed, bent, cleaned, etc.). My wife wants me to keep my desk clean (rolls eyes) and they're just sitting in a jar being used as a paper weight. Seriously, I'd rather do something good with them and raise some eyebrows when people see them at stores etc. than sit and do nothing.
Thanks all! Be safe and well.... wink.png

I would take a few and work with as suggested by people here and see how much better you could make those look. I would take the best of the lot you have and go from there. Could be fun and learn some things along the way.

Put them back in the wild. But not all in the same roll given to a bank. Spread them out.

You can sell them as a batch on ebay - at least get something above face for them.

Technically you are limited on the % you can spend in "inactive currency" but I doubt anyone would care or object.

I'd say give them to kids but I do not recommend going to the park, asking random strange children to come over to you, and giving them a penny. I think you might get arrested :)

If you do decide to send them out to any of the above who have asked for a few, I'd love to join in as it could be a fun project to clean/do some fun projects with.

    Either way - enjoy! :)

They would be fun to find in the wild. All good choices

Back when they had the Great American Coin Hunt, I went and deposited pieces like this at school entryways and the like. I even deposited a few in the toy isles at the local Walmart. I think pieces like this belong in a youngsters collection.

I donated my old indians and wheats to a local boy scout troop so they could earn badges. james

Send them to the folks at the Elongated Cent Society. They attend shows and would use them to roll elongated cents for visitors, especially young collectors. https://tecnews.org/

I'd put them in some walnut media in a tumbler with some polishing compound.
Keep the 1909, 9 over 9 in the middle of your pile and that 1873 Double Liberty under the holed cent in the upper right :D
    The rest back in circulation.
Tell the young clerks you come from Old money :p

I think you got them from my bank. All of their pennies look like that.

That’s something I’d like to do. I got a few wheat cents that I know the grandkids have already. Thinking of something brilliant to get these to some kids. I like the cub or brownies kids club idea so far. Trying to get them to the kids. Left a few cooked buffalo nickels in the gum ball return slot at the market. Pass some off on the bus also. Now the kids say hi to me

That is so cool. I love those. Got a babe Ruth one. They would probably clean them up some. Which I think is ok

Omg!! I have been collecting elongated pennies for YEARS.... I have over 500... And I've only purchased like 2-4.. Every time I see a machine, I have to get them.

I've seen these machines take dimes/quarters to elongate but I never thought about Indian Cents... Dang.. That's brilliant..

Now I wish I had a handful of Indians worth mushing -

I wish I could go back in time to my old coin shop I went to as a kid and buy handfuls for 35 cents a piece :p

I'll definitely have to get some wheatleafs and do that!!!!

(usually I take a roll of quarters and a roll of fresh mint pennies everywhere I go on holiday in case of smushing... Dang.. the ideas :)
