    Hi,

A while back I bought this very pretty 1916 Portuguese Escudo, graded as MS-64 by NGC. I am curious, however, as to one thing. At certain angles, there are many vertical lines, mostly under Liberty's chin, and some behind the back of her head. What are these?

Thank you! I had a feeling that that's what they were, but wasn't sure as I'd never come across anything quite like them before.

Updated my original reply with a link to the VAMworld description of die polish lines, if you care to read a bit more on the topic. It's pretty short.
