Take a look at the new penny designs being considered by the mint.

Who would recognize Lincoln without his beard? Top left imo doesn't look like him, top right looks like Alan Alda from M*A*S*H*

the mint should put something brief what the picture is about -

like the shack - should say "Lincolns birthplace"

or the other " Lincoln in Law school"

Yea, and the one on the left looks like Willie Olson on Little House on the Prairie.

I think they should just bring back the wheatie. They should also have a 95% copper cent in the silver proof set. :)

While I like the detail in these designs, my big concern is how they will play out on a coin the size of a cent. The Statehood Quarter series has been helped by the fact that the quarter size allows for room for a design.

Terrible designs... to much political correctness going into our coinage. Worn out ideas. Lets hear it for Freedom, Liberty, Heritage, Founding fathers...

Yeah I agree with this! I think we need to get back the older style coin designs....to me the older style just seems more I dont know "established" and not trendy like some of the new style coins...like the back of the presidential dollars....hate em...and the new nickle too!

My opinion of the new Lincoln Cents is that they are a travesty of Mr. Brenner's original design that cannot be improved on. I just bought a 1914-D NGC MS66BN and the coin verges on RB in my opinion. I do not have the skills to post a picture but it was sold at Heritage in July of this year and can be viewed in permenant auction archives at Heritage. To me the strike is stunning and should merit a 67 IMHO or at least a cross to PCGS. The scratches are only in the slab. I have wanted this coin since 1960 when I first started collecting from penny rolls. Never did find one in penny rolls.

I read in Coin World, I think, that the BN graded Lincolns have the best strike because the Red has a harder alloy. Any thoughts?

    New grasing suffix

With the bottom 2 designs they'll have to grade them MS or PF-xx FL = FULL LOGS :rolling:

    That title word is graDing
