Found this in a roll today,the date on this penny is 2000. Three different angles to show error. I think this is caused by the mint and not post damage.
Looks like a grease strike to me as well. Even so, a cool find despite being the most common error, from what I have seen. Too bad it got those dreaded spots before you got it!
As everyone has stated, another grease struck thru for sure. Common, but always cool to find - congrats!
