Lincoln Penny 1990 : Die error or damage...

    Do you know if it is an error on this coin? What is it... die break, damage or other error?

    Looks to me like it took a hit from something that left a gouge.

    Hi Jallengomez,

    There is no scratch or something like that. I don't think it is a post mint hit on the coin because there is no metal accumulation. Look like melted in the coin. Maybe a Die Hit :)

    It's actually machine doubling. The die did that during or just after the strike. It's a form of damage. No added value.
