I wanted to start searching lincoln penny boxes in search of wheaties, errors etc. I have read alot of the posts here and to be honest it is impossible to remember all the information. I would say I would keep all the wheaties aside and check them after I was done searching, but it is the other dates after 1959 I need some help on. I want to look for those dates that would be more valuable with the errors, varieties and mint marks. I know this is alot of information to ask but I do not want to miss out on anything valuable.

And what is nice is my kids are interested in looking as well so if I can give them a handful of dates to watch out for then it would be awesome.

I'm not promoting them but I'm on L&C's mailing list and what an eye opener for so many errors and varieties that are not listed anywhere else. I use their price list as a go along with my Cherry Pickers Guide to find varieties I have never before heard of. And of course, Rick's link above.

Get a Redbook and have it right next to you when you go through your box of cents. That's what I do and I don't miss anything.

The Red Book is a Great idea, for the cost of a soft bound Red Book you can subscribe to Coins Magazine; if you get the discount rate. You get monthly pricing updates and nice articles about type coins not in Red Book. I am not saying a copy of Red Book is not needed for the overall information presented, but it is not a necessity in my opinion to update it yearly.

Also here is another informative web site: www.lincolncentforum.com
