Does anyone have any reference material that they could look in and tell me the approximate rarity of the following coins, as well as roughly what they're worth? I don't even know if this kind of information exists out there. 1982 Large Date CU 1c. Obv Die Break LC-82-46. MS64 RD. 1982 Large Date CU 1c. Obv Die Break LC-82-SD-6. MS64 BN. Thank you so much. I am new to errors and have no idea what I'm doing (as far as errors go)! :goofer: :hammer:
Die breaks on linconl cents are very very common. Unless they are very strong and have great eye appeal, I haven't known them to carry much of a premium. Can you post any picts?
ahhhh...now that's different. Those are more commonly refered to as "cuds", though I've heard some debate on the terms. I don't know what the premium is specifically, but a quick search through ebay shows cuds like yours selling for $20 or so each. Thanks for the pictures. Nice errors
I always recommend to anyone with a question or photo of a Lincoln Cent to contact Charles D. Daughtrey at coppercoins.com. He has written two books on just Lincolns. I have one of them and it is great. However, he is very helpful with questions on those pennies so he could probably tell you anything you wanted to know about them.
Carl is right, coppercoins.com is very good just go there and put it in your favorites. Carl I think you talk about copper coins so much they should pay you ,keep up the good work.
The reason is I've bought one of his books and it is one of the best coin books for me. I've learned a lot from it, his web site and I really like the idea of how helpful he is to everyone. He usually can be found also on the PCGS web site and as soon as anyone needs anything about Cents, he jumps in and helps out. Considering how many thousands of photos he has accumulated on the subject, I always just recommend him rather than listening to a lot of well maybe this or that.
Hi CARL For the last 5 days I have been getting info from copper coins about varieties in lincoln cents. Charles , Bob, and Coop are so helpful . There is a lot of knowledge over there, and they are more then happy to answer any question you have about error and variety cents. Thank you for steering me in the right direction.
Glad to help. I was just at a coin show today and finally saw the latest Edition to coppercoins book. I was going ot buy it but got caught up looking at so much stuff I forgot until I got home. If you get a chance to buy either edition, I suggest you do. If you ever wanted to know anything about pennies, that book and that web site can't be beat. Chuck is a great and helpful guy. He is the type of person that makes coin collecting interesting.
