All these 90 penny's u see in the picture are all 1970S'. It's hard for me to compare large date and small date. I cannot tell the difference between the 2. Is there a easy way to tell these ones apart? Would it be much value if I keep them together in the book and sell the hole book collection of 1970s? Do people collect the 1970s?

There is a better ID mark in my opinion, and that is shown in the photos above also, Look at the top of the 7 in both examples where the top horizontal bar attaches to the slanted vertical bar. Notice in the large date you can see a diagonal joint here they connect, but in the small date, they appear merged. It is easier to determine using this for me than the angle of the loop of the 9 or the height or depth of the 7. If all 3 jive, then you can be sure.

In my experience, this ID mark is pretty much obliterated if the coin is worn, even slightly. Or at least you don't know either way whether it has been worn off or was never there.

Well everyone uses what they prefer. Since the diagonal line isn't flat on the surface, but instead winds inward to almost the left field, the date would have to be almost worn flat for a remnant to not be there, and in that grade it wouldn't matter.

For instance, I believe this is a large date but there is absolutely no sign of the diagonal between the horiz. and vert. of the 7. Unless this is a small date! :D 1970 S.jpg

Also, another point of reference is that the 70D and 70P(no mint mark) are large dates (if I recall correctly). So those are handy to compare too.
