Lincoln Cents 1970 D pre or post mint error?

    Just found this and was wondering if this happened at the mint or not and how it happened. Ed s-l1600.jpg s-l1601.jpg s-l1602.jpg

    I see a hit to the coin AFTER leaving the mint. Notice how the metal is pushed up as though a snow plow was driven across the coin. A die would not have those characteristics.

    If a die could produce a coin like that, there'd be millions just like it.

    Damaged, and recently. The metal underneath is still shiny.
