    Did you check the doubled die or variety vista web sites to see if your coin matches up with any known minor examples?

    Your photos are good but, not good enough to say. Could be die wear, could be damage. As already asked, have you tried matching it up to any minor DDO's for the year?

    This is ejection doubling or die chatter. The overall size of the letter (width of the lines) is exactly the same as one without the doubling, which is another clue that it is not a doubled die.

    This is a different coin than in your OP, correct?

    There are some people here that very good with minor doubling, but it's not my thing. I am leaning towards die deterioration, but at the high magnification, I'm not very good.

    That was why I suggested looking at the error sites. These guys are experts in error coins and have been verifying and keeping a database for years. If there is known example of a minor doubled die, they will have it. Plus, you can learn a lot from looking at their info.
