HI EVERYONE, I APOLOGIZE UP FRONT IF THIS ISN'T THE DOUBLED EAR. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK. THANKS IN ADVANCE, TWYZM
From what I can see it appears to be from Die deterioration. Look closely around the rim of the coin and you can see what I’m talking about.
The earlobe is a classic spot to find MD. Being at a high point it is most susceptible to movement. MD is readily detectable as it reduces the size of a device or design element (the ear in this case) and is flat and shelflike. Add in aging conditions of a die and you get a blend of conditions.
VarietyVista.com shows what to look for on the 1997 DDO for the ear. A good website for all kinds of errors/varieties.
