Let em rip.....opinions and comments and BE HONEST !!!!!

EDIT SATURDAY MAY 3rd......actual price $600 and graded as " Near Gem BU Red " ( Ebay ). What am I doing here? Just demonstrating the crazy price swings and amount of experienced buyers on the bay. This is not a bash the seller thread as I am not posting that info.

Nice strike for a 24-D and it looks like a nice color, but his pics are a little hard to tell for sure. However, there are a lot nicks - forehead, cheek, jaw, shoulder and that is only the front. I figured that it was a 62 or maybe a 63 at its very best. That is why I quit bidding long before its selling price.

As far as grade goes, I'm thinking AU.
There's a bit too many small dings for me to believe it's Unc, even a low Unc.

    Color concerns me.
Unless it's your lighting, it may have been cleaned.
Do you use an ordinary lightbulb for your pics?
They DEFINITELY add yellow to images.

I'd say 65 Red, and I'm typically harsh on Lincolns.

Well, that date with nice strong strike, I think it would grade pretty high. I dont think the marks will have too much affect on the grade, and I bet they are not nearly as noticeable with the coin in hand than what the pictures capture. My only concern would be cleaned. And it does look as though its been cleaned and it deff lacks luster. But sometimes pics are weird. Ive taken chances on coins with similar pictures and ended up pleasantly surprised. So I wish you luck. Make sure to post pics of your own, as soon as you have the coin.

From that seller (3300+ feedback with only 1 neg), I can pretty well assure you that the coin has not been cleaned. Also, that color/luster is pretty typical for his RB Lincolns.

I guess it's strike more than wear but there's not very much detail at all at the top of the ear. Love the reverse, not too keen on the obv, just too scratched. Personally I'd much rather have an AU58 with slight wear and no major nicks in the fields than pay MS maney for a coin like this one.

LOL, I did not win this nor would I bid on it
edit: I do not see any luster and wear on the obv has me thinkin cleaned AU

it has the appearance of being cleaned imo, but it is a solid AU

AU. cleaned IMHO. Tough to tell, but going by my gut, doesn't seem right.

    Phoenix

Looks dipped/recolored. It is scary what they can do with copper these days. Tom

Aside from the fact that it has been cleaned, it might make AU. This one is almost as bad as my only experience with this seller. At least that was before he added his 15% restocking fee.

Rlm...it is hard for me to find Lincolns that you have not already seen, lol, wonder why:rolleyes:

I would say AU detail but harshly cleaned for the 1923 cent.

Actually, I had not seen this one and I wondered why because I try to look at all reasonable 23-S's. After I found who was selling, I knew why I had not seen it. I ignore all of his listings.

A picture is worth a thousand words right?

Mine aren't the best. I recently posted a 27-D for opinions. Most said VF. I understand bad photos.

Soooo....I took it to the shop. Owner loved it. Strong strike high end XF in his opinion. He's been a dealer for over 40 years and started with Lincolns.

    Now,

Looking at this coin (granted I'm not real strong on which coins had great strikes), this coin is of lesser quality than my 27-D!

It's a better pic and shows me a lot. XF and cleaned at that.

Those are two good reasons why I stopped collecting Lincoln Cents for now at least.
