Beautifull both sharp follis , congrats Cucumber I have a Licinius , but cant read the legend on the reverse
I have always found the two Licinii among the most interesting (and tragic which let's face it makes any story more interesting) rulers in Roman history. Great examples in this thread.
My one & only Licinius I, at the moment. Don't have my file on this decive but recall RIC lists it at R1
Sweet!! => wow Qude, those are awesome OP-Licinius examples!! (congrats) Yah, I still only have this one cool humble example ... => $44 (delivered, Triskeles auction)
Hey Qude, your first OP-example almost looks like a butt-shot of Jupiter, eh? ... it looks like we're getting the rear-view (very cool ... maybe it's just me?) => it looks like he's looking back over his shoulder, with his spear in front of him (again, very cool addition) you rock!! ... or maybe the artist just got his/her perspective screwed-up? either way, cheers Ummm, the whole "he has a tail" debate is for another thread
@stevex6 I totally agree, I can't see it as frontal! Nice stuff Q, Mikey, Svarog. My first ever coin ordered through the mail (as a teenager long before the internet, from Stephen Huston in San Francisco. Anybody remember him?) And London Mint all the way, @Bing:
That was my first impression too... Jupiter is totally mooning us. I can't help thinking the die cutter worked in that perspective on purpose . Fantastic coin, Q! I was gifted this nice one by my 2016 Secret Santa. LICINIUS I AE Follis. 3.22g, 23.4mm. Siscia mint, AD 313. RIC VII Siscia 234a (C2). O: IMP LIC LICINIVS P F AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. R: IOVI CONS-ERVATORI AVGG NN, Jupiter standing left, holding Victory on globe and sceptre; in lower left field eagle with wreath in beak standing left, head right; epsilon in right field, SIS in exergue.
