    Hi friends

A few days back I came across a Licinius reduced follis from Alexandria 7th officina that I like so much and want to share with you all coin lovers and addicts

Licinius I, reduced follis Alexandria mint, 7th officina
IMP C VAL LICIN LICINIVS P F AVG, laureate head right
IOVI CONSER - VATORI AVGG, Jupiter standing left, holding Victory on globe in right hand and sceptre in left hand. An eagle holding wreath in his beak at his feet in left field, In right field a wreath above a Z above an N, at exergue ALE
    4.23 gr, 20/21mm
    Ref : RIC # 10, RCV # 15246, C # 108

It's a good opportunity to add my other example of his, an unusually huge follis for that period with its 9 grams, also from Alexandria

Licinius I, Follis Alexandria mint, 3rd officina, c. AD 308-310

    Ref : RIC VI # 101b, RCV # 15179 (65), Cohen # 43

Feel free to add anything you find is related to those (Licinius, Licinius Jr, Constantine, or whatever you like)

    Love you all

I have always found the two Licinii among the most interesting (and tragic which let's face it makes any story more interesting) rulers in Roman history. Great examples in this thread.

Hey Qude, your first OP-example almost looks like a butt-shot of Jupiter, eh? ... it looks like we're getting the rear-view (very cool ... maybe it's just me?)

=> it looks like he's looking back over his shoulder, with his spear in front of him (again, very cool addition)

    you rock!!

... or maybe the artist just got his/her perspective screwed-up?

    either way, cheers

Ummm, the whole "he has a tail" debate is for another thread

    ;)

That was my first impression too... Jupiter is totally mooning us. I can't help thinking the die cutter worked in that perspective on purpose :). Fantastic coin, Q!

I was gifted this nice one by my 2016 Secret Santa.
