Hello Collectors and Friends: I will like to know, what did you Think about this ULTRA RARE Double Die Obverse from Peru. Ebay #110143075372 Have a Double Die (D x F) double lettering strike. How much you will price it Fairly ?. (whithout jokes right ... how much can be the Fair value for a coin like this considering the Year and the Rare type). Thank You !!! & Regards Lore NOTE: What kind of Grade can TAKE at PCGS ??? ... i was wondering ... you can feel free to grade it.
Does a D over F (or F over D) really count as a double-die? I wouldn't think so, but then again I'm no Peruvian coin expert.... I'd be more concerned with LIBERTAD, it looks tooled, from the angle I'm looking at it from.
I was thinking that it was a Mule but I am not even sure of that! Note: "UN FINO" and "9D FINO" Frank
---------------- Yes im consufed too, the true im more familiar with American Coins that Peruvian Coins (Shame on me) beeing peruvian ... Obverse: (or F over D) Yes i was wondering if that counts like a DDO ... But is a Double Die by logic, so i was thinking it is ... Reverse: The Part "9D FINO" in the Reverse is normal, means like: 9 DECIMOS (Denomination) and Fino. Like PURE (Silver). What can be their value , maybe can surprise someday, due i never seen some error like this before. i found this coin researching a Lot of Peruvian Coins that i recently purchase. all the coins before 1890... If someone have a PERUVIAN CATALOGUE will be Great !. Question: what will be the Grade by PCGS for a coin like this ... any Eye Grade ???. Thanks very much for take the time to write and answer about this coin. Is very good to share opinions. Regards, Lore
Wait, I see what you are talking about. Not a double die, a letter re-punched over another one. Very nice.
Some refer to these as "blundered" design elements. Repunched or over-punched is fine also. Better than a doubled die in my opinion.
It appears there is an error in the Krause catalog as this coin is not even listed past 1892, but with further searching the coin does exist. That being said, errors like this on world coinage seldom add any value whatsoever as they are considered to be rather common. Add to that the fact that there are very few collectors who search out world coin erros and you have a low or non-existant demand for such coins as well. Value for this coin would be a couple dollars at best.
Thanks Well so is a: ¨Repunched or over-punched¨ thanks mikediamond for your response is always good to know. And yes i think the demand is all a theme. and if the the Krause catalog doesnt exist will be worse my demand i guess lol. Is a nice coin, and a rare date (A numimastic pro told me today that was low mintage in that year). Thank you very much for post the comments about this coin. Edited Regards Lore
