I seem to be developing a Barber Half fetish of sorts. Here's a circ. "short set" on fee-bay right now--27 coins 1907-1915. The seller has no FB, & can't spell, but the pics are reasonably good. To my amateur-grading eyes, most of the coins look to be maybe VG? Some Fine condition? Or? I'd assume a lot of the value would come down to the condition of the 1913, 1914, & 1915. Just wondering what anyone thought about what it's worth, or had any other observations. I assume on fee-bay, it will go for top dollar. TIA.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Barber-Half-Dollar-Set-1907-1915/251281805252?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D8096531432423797086%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D251281805252%26
The dealer made a reasonable offer, yet they're up for sale on eBay. The 1914 doesn't look too bad, VG10 maybe? the 1915 is a G. If you want to start collecting Barbers, buy the coins one by one, this would be a starters set and with the price already close to $700, I think you could do better. That's just my opinion.
A seller with no feedback, key date coins, poor english/spelling and no returns. I wouldn't just for those reasons. I doubt you would ever see those coins or your money ever again.
I think buyer protection would insure you got your money back. However, there are scams where a seller mails an empty folder... which shows up as delivery confirmed. If you file a SNAD, the seller in turn claims you must have removed the coins. It gets messy, and zero feedback sellers are a liability.
Aside from the red flags; these coins are fairly common in this condition so why not buy the individual coins you like instead of a group?
