Oddly enough, this is two questions in a row about two different Maryland State Quarters.

I noticed on this one the lettering is much more rounded, wider and protruding than a 'normal' Maryland. There is also several areas where doubling has occurred, but I'm a bit perplexed.

I hope the photos aren't too bad. The very last is what I see as 'normal' lettering on the Maryland coin. Just trying to find out what this is.

    Thanks for your help.

I'm seeing a lot of machine doubling, but nothing other than that.

Will that cause the rounding and enlargement of the lettering as well?

I think what you are seeing is a combination of that, die deterioration and general circulation.
