To "restore" or to not restore? Picked this key date up today at little more than melt + Morgan premium and postage. I may experiment on it. Definitely getting an acetone bath, and possible MS70 splash and rinse. Might have some PVC or environmental damage, but the price was right for this date and mint. Can't tell if it might grade at XF or not. ???
Another pickup today. I don't really need anymore of this date and mint mark but couldn't pass this one up. I'm not buying the grade this seller is selling but looks MS. @Pickin and Grinin It's got a lot of baggage but that's not why I picked it off. Check out below the date. Doubled die clash on the right wreath. I abhor staples in cardboard flips too. Egads!
I don't know a thing about Lincolns, but that's a great coin Milford. Might be worth a pretty penny! (pun intended)
Added another 1970 D Kennedy Half to the hoard, this one a bit better than average, plus the reverse die with all the die gouges (I playfully refer to them as the "Meteor Shower" reverses). This makes about ten examples I now own with this reverse die. Closeup shot of reverse - had to downscale it about 90% so it would load easier here - note the die scratches/gouges in the same spots as my earlier example from this post back in 2021. Have a wonderful evening, and thanks for checking out my little newp.
You made me think about something. Back in those days, can you imagine carrying around a pocket full of those things? And as well, how easy it would be lose a few, being so small? I need to find some old estates and look behind their couch cushions.
