Here is two of my Local Fractional Currency,One is for 50c and has been punched 7 x's and is worn but that doe's not bother me at all! To me it give's it more character. You may notice the signature by J.F.Downing (also involved in a local brewery a few yrs.later)is in his own hand where as the Mayor's is a facsimille as is BOTH signature's on 5c note. The 50c. note reads "pay to bearer fifty cents in current bank notes" just like the 5,The 5c is dated NOV.1st. 1862 the 50c is NOT dated. The 50c has the # 668(maybe a 5 also),You can see the # on the 5c..#12998. Well so far those are my two&i am ALWAYS looking to obtain more Erie,PA., Erie County,PA.Thank's for looking!!!
How about some fractional Depression scrip, does that count? These were issued during the March 1933 banking crisis and also exist in 50¢ and $1 denominations. Merchants had to add a stamp to the back every time it was spent. Since the "bank holiday" didn't last very long few of these were completed with all 52 stamps.
gsalexan of course these COUNT!!! Really nice set! I have seen local depression scrip myself. That's really cool.It remind's me of yet ANOTHER favorite of mine,BOB(Scott Stamp Catalog)stamps! Thank's for posting!!!
the 15 cent are specimen of dif types apparently, wonder why i only have 2 and not more from the broken down shield, bout to get my fractionals graded as matter of fact
I think the actual point of the thread was to post non-federal fractionals. There are lots of small change obsolete notes out there, Depression scrip, and municipal notes that qualify -- I'd like to see some more of these myself.
ah i didnt read earlier tbh, jus saw fractional n posted, cuz im getting bout 10 ready for grading at the moment
Of course it doe's!!! If it's your home-town( or not )111 The whole point was to see other Fractional currency issued by local municipalitie's(?) Thank's for the input&GREAT looking note!!!
Thank You BRandM!!! You yourself have beautiful items!!! Those are some sharrrp notes!!! And they are LOCAL!!!
