I am currently obsessed with nice toned coins. Not high value coins, but toned lovelies. I'd love to see some of the coins you have worth, say, under $200 that have incredible toning. Here is one of my most recent finds.
It is from the world fair in 1892 commemorating columbus. So, just over 100 years old. Not hard to find these, even nice toned ones. Harder in nice MS toned, however.
I'll put up another for now, I paid $2.99, so, no problem with the fact that it is AT (though I've seen similar toning in NT walkers, just not this brilliant and 'dropped' on). Just could not help from spending the three bucks...
Ah, little mini toning cabinets. Toning the old fashioned, and legitimate way... though perhaps a bit sped up!
Just wait till GDJMSP sees this thread...I'm sure there will be some toners for your eyes to see! Speedy
Chuckle, I also had a little luck setting some coins on seasoned firewood too. I posted the pictures on another thread, let me look for it. B
I'm saving my better ones... just to keep up later when the pics start posting! Can't wait to see what everyone has to show off!
funny how putting coins in a wooden storage cabinet for a few years is legitimate toning, and putting them raw on some firewood might cause calls of AT... As for me, its all chemically induced, but using flames or chemicals is where I draw the line... If someone told me my coin was toned in 6 months sitting on a piece of firewood, I'm good with that :smile
Very pretty Columbus Richard01, I consider them to be unique works of art worth a premium. Some toners, no matter how nice, are grossly overpriced to me in the current market....
Looks better than the picture but the best I could do. I'm enjoying your pictures. Nice coins everyone.
True, I'll pay more. I happened to get the above coin in NGC MS64 for about $200, which is about going rate for a cert 64 now, so I was happy.
