    Hey everyone!

So, just found this pretty sweet 1956 D Lincoln Cent that's covered in some heavy die scratches (mostly on the obverse, but there are a few biggies on the reverse as well...I thought it would be fun to see everyone else's. Enjoy!

Wow--that's certainly the most scratches I've seen on a Lincoln cent--and some look deep! I just found an Indian Cent with a large die gouge--I'll post pics when it arrives.

Wouldn't die scratches be slightly raised on the coin surface and not deep??

Well, I'm guessing the OP has looked closely and concluded they're raised. It's sorta hard to tell from a picture, although I notice the scratches don't cross Lincoln--which is what I'd expect if the scratches were in the field of the die.

Hey guys - yes, all the scratches you see are raised, meaning they were part of the original die. It also means that other coins will have similar die scratches (I know I have at least one duplicate just like the one pictured above.)
