Here we go again ...in this case someone decided to drill this poor girl. Then if that was not enough they tried to fix her. Now as an 1870 SLD we are getting into to somewhat of a key or semi key coin mintage wise. Philomena mintage was 470,500 Sally 50,000. There were only two mint marks minted in 1870 . Philomena from Phily, and Sally from San Fran. Can you tell me is this Philomena or Sally as they are twins sister from different cities. Again you may copy and enlarge the images or edit in any way.
I do believe that it is a Philomena. [ Never liked her anyway.] But, the lowest leaf to the (facing) left is upturned. As shown here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1870-S-Seat...67?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1e978d0da7 The Sally has the same leaf turned down. However, the Philomena shown here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1870-Seated...10?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item5666b9bede the same leaf is turned up. So, I submit for your approval: I do believe that it is a Philomena.
