I just sold my 1st two items on e-bay two weeks ago. I know they have changed the rules receintly and I have a question. I have not gotten feedback on either of the deals even though I sent emails asking for feedback when they receive the items to let me know everything was ok. What do you do as a seller about feedback? Do you leave it as soon as you get payment? Do you not worry about your own feedback as a seller? I had always left it as soon as I got the item as a buyer. I feel both buyers got a good deal on the items, I lost money even with the shipping so I guess thats where I'm confused. Thanks Robert
I've got over 3000 feedbacks on Ebay and have learned over the years that about 50%-60% of the buyers will not leave feedback for a seller. Some will not leave feedback for you until you leave feedback for them.
as a seller, i think as soon as you recieve payment you should leave appropriate feedback. As a buyer, feedback should be left once the item arrives. In the past, sellers used feedback as a retaiatory tool, things have since changed but it does take some folks longer to realize. If i were you, and you want feedback, i would leave feedback for my buyers. There are tools outthere that folks use to only post feedback when the other person does. Your buyers could possibly just be waiting like you were.
As a buyer I leave feedback as soon as I've recieved whatever it is I've won/bought and if I'm pleased with it. As a seller, when I ship items, I'll send them a message saying I've shipped and that once they recieve, if everything's good and up to their standards to please leave me positive feedback, and I tell them I'll do the same once they do for me. Once they do I know they've gotten it and they're happy and I return the gesture by leaving it for them. Somehow I've never had any major problems with feedback. Aside from 1 neutral. My score is 284. No negatives
Steve, why would you wait until the buyer leaves feedback to leave yours? As long as the payment is recieved in a timely fashion, what other considerations does the seller need to leave feedback for the buyer? I am just curious as to your thoughts.
Because the way I see it, if they'd like feedback themselves it gives them an incentive to leave it for me. We both win. Before I started doing it that way, I'd have people who bought things from me, and I'd leave them feedback after recieving payment, and quite a few times I'd never hear back from them. So I figured, well if they'd like feedback I'll ask them kindly to leave it for me first and it hasn't failed me yet.
I too was waiting for the buyer to let me know everything was ok. I guess I'll just leave feedback for these 2 people. I never had any seller give me feedback just for paying, but I haven't bought anything in three months or so. Thanks guys
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man ... but when a seller wants me to leave feedback first ... they were just lying in the weeds with a cheap revenge (old rules). Now that the rules have changed, I don't see why a seller doesn't ALWAYS leave feedback. Seems like good business. The fact that a buyer may or may not be a returning customer ... those few seconds of 'customer appreciation' (if you will) seems like good business [Did I already say that?]. An old man's opinion. I just sold something and left the guy feedback right away. He didn't leave me any feedback although he told me he was happy with it. You may as well leave feedback as soon as payment is received now. If they end up leaving you a negative, you can't do much more than reply to it and explain why they're wrong, if they are.
I respect your opinion Nox. It's just how I do things. No schemes or anything else behind asking them to leave it first. It's just like I said, I've had people buy things and I'd give them the best service and would never hear from them again. And no one has replied to any of my messages saying anything about me asking first. Infact most people reply thanking me for the good communication and that they'd be happy to leave feedback. I have had quite a few repeat customers, but really I'm just about giving people the best service I can. But then again I'm usually on the buying end and have learned a lot from mistakes of bad sellers.
With the new rules, I make a point of only leaving feedback if the seller has already done so for me. Everyone has their own opinion and mine is this: I held up my end of the deal by paying for my item... what the heck else do they need me to do? Nope, these days a seller has absolutely no valid reason to withold feedback. If I get my item and I'm happy with it but I don't see one of those little plus symbols next to the listing, the seller doesn't get one from me and I remove the listing from my "need to leave feedback" list.
Good. Only once before the new feedback rules did a seller leave me feedback as soon as I had paid...and I thanked him for in in the feedback I left him. Since the new rules have come in every seller I have bought from has left me feedback before I have left them feedback. Oh and BTW...I have a feedback of 77 (100%) and have never not recieved feedback from a buyer or seller.
I leave feedback when I get payment. Some people who aren't real big on ebay, don't realize the importance of feedback to others. ________________ --->hya::mouth:
UPDATE: One of the two buyers left me feedback the same day I left them feedback. The other is still a holdout. I guess I will leave feedback as soon as I get the cash from them.
