recently, i purchased a copy of "cast chinese coins" by david hartill (ct member). awesome book! i was looking up some of my coins in the book, and noticed some notes by david that said the legend on coins produced under the reign of tai zong (976-997 a.d.) were written by the emperor HIMSELF!! wow!! his own actual handwriting on his coins... here's a coin from his reign... this coin jumps to the top of my "favorite coin" list because the emperor wrote the inscription on the die!! living history... wow!!
That is awesome! I felt rather privileged to have the great man himself reply to one of my postings. It was like being a teenager again and running into my favorite musician at a record store and then having them recommend their favorite album to me.
