The September edition of Coin World has a front page article about LaVere Redfield...Wall Street wizard, gambler, and hoarder extraordinaire! My Hero!!

A red Redfield 1881-S MS65 Morgan dollar was my first purchase once I began collecting/hoarding again in 2005. I feel his spirit channeling through me! :D

I'm not sure that the "Yakpoo hoard" pedigree will command much of an added value.

Would make for quite an interesting hoard though. I can see myself now, trying to explain to the grand kids why I bought one......:)

Redfield was more than a bit of an eccentric. However, Morgan Collectors can thank him, as he had many of the Morgans that now grace our collections. Nobody would consider him a collector in the sense that he didn't collect with any purpose or intent. He hoarded, as he had a fear and antipathy of financial institutions.

We can call it The Channeler Hoard.

    Redfield II?

I thought the Coin World article was interesting.
But they left alot out and some info was very vague. Such as the different wills he left and which one was finally accepted as the correct will?
Supposedly there were smaller lighter bags which they said "may" have contained gold coins or bars.
    Well what was it?
Also interesting is that he had stashed a 1922 Lincoln but probably never drove it.
