Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.5g), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Thessalonica (VOT XX MVLT XXX cf. Thessalonica 30), irregular mint, after 318. Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to left; around, imitative legend formed out of fourteen Π. Rev. XXXX / XXXXX / XXXX in three lines; in background, elongated symmetrical volute; all within stylized wreath. ex- Lars Ramskold the above coin is somewhat copying the below coin-- and two GENIO coins that I won today-- Constantius I, as Caesar, Ӕ Follis. Contemporary imitation of the London mint, AD 297. FL V CONSTANTIVS NOB L C, laureate head to right / GENIO POPVLI ROMANI, Genius standing to left, modius on head, holding patera and cornucopiae. For possible prototype cf. RIC VI 32. 10.87g, 28mm, 10h. ex-Dr. Jacob Terner Maximian Ӕ Follis. Contemporary imitation of the Treveri mint, AD 296-297. IMP MAXIMIANVS P AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust to right / GENIO POPVLI ROMANI (sic), Genius standing to left, modius on head, holding patera and cornucopiae; B(retrograde)-Γ across fields; TR in exergue.
