Just catching up on my State quarters and have added these two to the collection :smile 2007 D + P Utah State Quarter 2 Trains moving toward the golden spike that joined the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads, linking East to West President George Washington 1732–1799 2008 D + P Oklahoma State Quarter Scissortail Flycatcher & State wildflower, the Indian Blanket President George Washington 1732–1799 I will say that I do like the design on the Oklahoma coin but not that keen on the Utah design. You guy's got any prefferences LOL
Utah is my new favorite state quarter. I've always been a fan of steam locomotives and the "Driving of the Golden spike". I just wonder where everyone went. I guess the beer ran out.
I wonder how far they had to back those trains up to clear the track once the ceremony was over. Guy~
"I was here first, you'll just have to back up" "Yeah but my engine has the bigger chimney, you should back up!"
The trans-continental railroad is an engineering marvel, and Utah should be proud to display the 'Driving of the gold spike'. Although I am sure our Native Americans have a different opinion. It is also one of my favorite quarters. To each his own I guess.
i used to do a lot of model railroading so i really like the Utah. not looking forward to the plain new mexico quarter
Imagine a 10 year old gets both the Oklahoma and Utah quarters in change. He looks them up and finds Oklahomas state bird, and that fine. For Utah he finds the story of the trans-continental railroad, so much more history.
Nothing wrong with the history behind the coin, I just feel that artisticly it leaves a lot wanting LOL I happen to love trains cant think of a nicer way to travel, and we have some great old steam locos still over here :kewl:
I like Utah's quarter design. Of course, I may be biased, as I work for a railroad, but it's still an interesting design, and as far as I know the first US circulated money to use a train design. Guy~
