Howdy folks, Been away for a while; got side tracked with buying a house and having a little kiddo. For most of '22, collecting took a back seat. I had a chance to attend CSNS show in April of last year and picked up this neatly toned Barber dime to upgrade my white MS62 one: Despite the darker toning, this piece has some wonderful dancing cartwheel luster. This past April I again had a chance to attend CSNS and couldn't leave empty handed. I was eyeballing a few classic commemoratives, but unfortunately a beautiful MS64 1925 California Jubilee half was sold while I was finishing my initial lap. Luckily, I was able to buy this attractive, relatively clean/white Bay Bridge MS64 classic commemorative: And most recently, with my birthday coming up, decided to splurge a bit and picked up my first gold dollar; MS62 1916 McKinley: This one is quite bright and lustrous as well despite the lower MS grade. The reverse has an odd green spec around 4 o'clock, right along the rim -- possibly remnants of improper storage (?) but oddly still straight graded. Down the road someday I may send it for restoration to remove that spec; we'll see if I ever get around to it. Quite enjoyable was falling down a rabbit hole and spending ~hour reading about President McKinley's life/accomplishments and the McKinley Birthplace Memorial (depicted on the reverse of the coin). The memorial looks rather impressive; I'd love to visit it some day. Next for me are a few half dollars I'm tracking on Heritage Auctions. Will post when/if I get 'em
Nice pickups and glad to see you back! The Bay Bridge is a lovely design! And the gold commems are a fun (although they can get pricey) area to explore.
