Just saw this in my news feed : A hoard of medieval silver coins has been found in 2021 in Dunscore, Scotland, by a metal detectorist. He reported the find to the authorities and regular archaeological digs were made on the spot, finding many more. They eventually unearthed a total of 8407 silver coins of the late 13th - early 14th c. The catalogue is under way but the Treasure Trove Unit of Scotland warns it might take some time because the number of detectorists has dramatically increased those last years (1551 items declared in 2019, and 12,263 items (including the 8407 coins) declared in 2022...). This large hoard includes many pennies of Edward I (1272-1307) and Edward II (1307-1327) from several mints of England, Scotland and Ireland, with also continental coins of the same period. It dates back to the wars between Robert the Bruce king of the Scots and Edward II king of England, but I could not find in the press articles if there were any Scottish pennies in the hoard. https://www.livescience.com/scotland-medieval-coin-hoard-field
