Frank, does PCGS do this or is it an after market thing by a secondary seller to identify their own? @Treashunt.
That was an issue with the Dupont hologram era slabs, the newest one everything is inside and there is nothing to damage. The white barcode sticker on the back is a seller sticker. PCGS doesn't apply any stickers on the outside to their slabs with the exception of the Dupont Hologram era slabs.
Just use your fingernail. Pretty routine to have stickers on coins bought at auction. I've never had one rip off the hologram when removing it with a fingernail. If a chunk of hologram should come off, it's no big deal. I've asked both NGC and PCGS if it invalidates the grade if part of the hologram is missing, and they said it doesn't. Cal
Just to be a little more specific for you Tommy on that one, you could scrub that with a wire bush to get it off and the label underneath will be fine. Just peel away. Sorry for not including that in the first reply
