Otho, 16mm, 2.40gms Valerian ll, 21mm 2.96gms
Apart from the Gaius and Lucius denarii designating them as PRINC IVVENT, that is first among the youth. I only have one coin with IVVENTVS, a Claudius II Gothicus Antoninianus, which still has a nice silvering. On Imperial coins, Iuventas and Spes are often associated with the reigning Caesar. She was especially the goddess of young men who had just come of age. A supplication to Iuventas and Spes marked the anniversary of Augustus' coming of age and Iuventas was among the many Virtues on the coinage of Antoninus Pius.
