From Heritage... AV Ashrafi AH1122= 1708/9 Shiraz Mint Shah Husayn 1694-1722 Iran/ Safavid Dynasty This coin is "unique"/ only 3 known from Shiraz Mint/ this a light version. Husayn struck gold only for presentation purposes/ thus all are RRR In 1722 the Hotaki Afghans rebelled and he was defeated and taken prisoner by Mahmud the new Sultan. His successor Ashrafi, was threatened by the Sultan Ahmed III (Ottoman Ruler) to release Husayn or he would restore him by force. Ashrafi had him beheaded and sent it to Ahmed This led to War, but Ashrafi defeated the Turks in 1726 at Kermanshah.
