OK, I really brought it to the last second on this one (just won it 5 minutes ago). The seller didn't call it a D/S but it looks like it might be. Can I have some opinions on the grade? I'll give a link to the auction after I get a few unbiased opinions.

EDIT: I'm not counting on a D/S. It was just a last second purchase and a D/S would be a bonus.

On the mid part to upper part of the Indians braid it looks like a little rub and possibly a little on the front shoulder of the bison/buffalo and on around the horn, 1938 was very well known for great strikes and good relief, I'm just not seeing a top grade coin here despite the clean fields, could be I'm mistaken and I hope I am... If what I am seeing is rub then obviously AU58 at highest, but it could just be the lighting and I'm mistaken, then I'd say a flat MS60 absolutly no higher than MS63, The one thing this nickel has in its favor is the nice fields! I hope I havn't been to hard on this one, it really is a nice nickel, I'm just speaking my mind as I hope others do for me when I present a coin... As to the RPM possibly a D/D there are many catalogued for 1938, I don't see anything similar for a D/S... Good night to ya.... DAK

I could see it going to 64, but I doubt 65.

wow!! nice !!! looking at the auction it doesnt say it is slabbed, so the ms65 is the sellers grade. I dont think it would grade that high, the "Liberty" just looks like it has been worn down near the rim. But i could be wrong.

D/D to me, from the first picture. Still a nice coin.

Regarding the Liberty being worn near the rim: that is the strike, not wear. For possible wear look at the cheek.

It looks unc to me, but that is without seeing it in person.
